Pictures from February

So this is the face Katie has started to give me when I'm trying to take pictures, it has been extra difficult lately to get a good picture out of her.

Going for a winter walk.

Katie coming after me with a snowball.

Daddy and Abi shoveling.

I don't know how to french braid but have been trying, although I usually give up and end up doing a twist like thing instead.

Kissy face!

The day after I posted about my new nephew my brother and his family came to visit.
Ethan and Abi marching in circles

Papa, Abi, and Spencer. Abi loved the baby and wanted to take care of him.
Abi's first set of pigtails! Also the face she has been giving me lately when I'm taking pictures.
Another braid/ twist.

Hearts and lots of them!

We made lots of heart shaped cookies for Valentines Day. Katie was a good little helper. I have an issue with sugar cookies that taste like flour. They are called sugar cookies and should taste sweet. I used Alton Browns sugar cookie and icing recipe and they turned out yummy!

Baked with no frosting
Pink frosting
Some of the sugar cookies I dipped in chocolate.

John loves chocolate chip cookies with flax seeds so I made some pan cookies and cut out heart shapes just for him! Ok, so we all had our share.

Plate of finished cookies.

My parents gave our girls these cute valentines!
We had valentines that had temporary tattoos that the girls thought were fun.

New Nephew!

At the begining of January my older brother Trent and his wife Tanya added a third boy to their family. His two big brothers are Joseph and Ethan and are two sweet boys. He was born on Josephs 7th birthday, a baby brother has got to be a great present! This guys name is Spencer and although I have yet to meet him in person I can tell he is adorable!

Ice Sun Catchers

I saw this idea for things to do with kids somewhere on the interent but can't recall where. I wish I took pictures the first time we did this because they were beautiful and clear ice these ended up dirty. Oh well. First we gathered pine needles and pine cones and put them in pie dishes with twine and poured water on them and left them out side to freeze.
It didn't freeze for a few nights which is why they ended up dirty because they had time to have dirt blown into them. I added water the night before it froze but should have just started over.

I then pulled them out of the tins and hung them outside.

They were fun to watch as they melted and grew icicles.

Here they've fallen down and are almost melted. The girls had fun looking out the window a few times every day to see how they looked. We will definatly do this again.

Pictures from January

Abi helping to make Tomato Bisque Soup for dinner.

We went for a walk and I guess Katie was tired she fell asleep and her head fell into her coat.
Katie got Wizard of Oz dress ups from Grandma and Grandpa Nolan for her Birthday. Here she is, of course, dressed up as the Wicked Witch.
Katie cooking up some food in her play kitchen Santa brought for the girls.
In my parents living room they have a fireplace harth that makes a great stage. Our girls often put on a perfomence of many songs for us. Oh and there is also a blanket fort that the girls called their house.
The Little Girl With A
Curl
There was a little girl who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead;
When she was good, she was very, very good,
And when she was bad she was horrid.
This pretty much fits Katie to a T! This had been a very hard evening for Katie with lots of crying and tantrum throwing. Right before I was going to tuck her into bed I had to take this picture with that beautiful curl of red hair.
We took a train down town on one of John's days off and went to The Church History Museum. They have a great kids exhibit. Heres Katie in the Kitchen.
Abi and I changing some of the clothes on these dolls.
After our trip down town Katie fell asleep.
Abi loves her sleepy sister.
Katie wanted to wake her up to play.
Maybe Katie is like sleeping beauty and needs a kiss to wake up? Nope that didn't work either.
The end of January Abi had a fever that went for four days we took her to the Dr and they did some tests but nothing showed up. After her fever finally broke she was congested for a few days and then runny nosed for a few days. Katie then got the fever and a bit of congestion but thats been all. John and I both had a bit of it but now we all are healthy again! Yay!
Mom and Abi waiting for the Dr.

Katie's first trip to the Dentist

The Dentist was never scary for me growing up, I always loved having really clean teeth after a check up. I only have had two cavities and I did have braces, but my experience with both Dentists and Orthodontists was good. I have hoped that my girls would have a similar experience. John on the other hand had a terrible experience with the Dentist he visited before his mission and so he doesn't have the same kind feeling for them as I do.

I noticed Katie had two cavities last October but kept putting off making an appointment. A friend from our ward works at a pediatric Dentist office and gave me a card for the office and finally we made and appointment. January 6th John took her while I stayed home with Abi. Katie did great here are some pictures from her appointment.

They have a cute play/waiting room.
Katie got her own set of head phones and got to watch a movie.

She was a good girl for her x-rays!

More movie.

I'm so glad Katie was a good girl for the Dentist, I would definitely recommend to any of my friends with kids to take your child to a pediatric Dentist! She will need to have her cavities filled and will get that done at Primary Childrens in Riverton, the Dentist thinks putting her under while they are filled is for the best and I completely agree.
