Good Old Scipio

We went to Scipio to enjoy the 24th of July festivities and spend time with family. Katie loved her cousins and they kept her laughing. We went to the Maple Grove campground to see Jay and his family who were camping there. The parade was a lot of fun but Katie wasn't sure what the horses were all about. My cousin McKay and his little family were in the parade; they hooked a trailer up to their four wheeler where they sat and tied ropes to the controls. We also went to part of the rodeo where we saw even more family but left early due to a tired and cranky Katie.

Memories

I've seen this on four blogs in the last 2 days so I may as well do the same while it's hot!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I (or John) had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory of you. It's actually pretty funny to read the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Katie is crawling!

Katie decided about 3 weeks ago she was going to get this crawling thing down and now she can be really quite fast. I finally got some video of her at John's parents last night. Besides my cute baby crawling at the very beginning it also shows Freida (Aileen's beagle), setting a tennis ball on the piano bench next to John. She had picked him to play with although he wasn't paying attention to her.

Our 4th of July weekend

We spent our 4th of July with family; my parents invited John's parents over for dinner. We enjoyed just talking and sharing stories and of course Katie seemed to take all the attention given.

Saturday John and I went up Little Cottonwood Canyon and enjoyed the water rushing by while hiking on the Little Cottonwood Trail. Katie wasn't to happy as we drove up the Canyon. As I tried to calm her down guess what I saw... a little tooth! Yup, Katie's first tooth has broken through. Once we put her in the carrier and began walking she was happier and slept for a good part of our hike.

Sunday we headed to Provo where Skip blessed little Asher. It was a beautiful blessing and it was fun to see how Asher is filling in and not looking so newborn. I even got to feed him! We also enjoyed seeing and chatting with Rachel and Skip and also Kristin and Enoch.

Monday we went even farther south to Scipio and attended my great uncle Carl's funeral. Although it was a sad occasion it was good to see my Grandparents and other family. My Grandma and her sister spoke about their brother and their memories of him. It was wonderful. We went to the cemetery where the casket was pulled by a horse-drawn hearse. Afterwards we enjoyed the family lunch and visiting. We stayed until 5ish and headed home but wish we could have stayed. We do plan to go back for the Day's of '47 weekend to enjoy the festivities.
