Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo how about you, you, you... January

So I mentioned previously we got a Zoo membership from John's brother Tommy for Christmas. We went to the Zoo twice in January. Grandpa Hughes joined us for our first trip.

Playing on the Rino statue

Watching a Tiger sleep

Giraffes!!!

Katie and a Giraffe,
it's hard to get that kid to look at me when I'm taking a picture!

Katie seeing how tall she is compared to a gorilla

John comparing his hand to the size of an adult male gorilla

Abi is the same height as a juvenile gorilla
The Second time we went to the zoo they had a cats and cocoa event. They had a Tiger training demonstration, free hot cocoa and a craft. It was a lot of fun despite the rain and a bit of snow. We of course took time to see other animals too.
Rino!

Abi watching rinos!

Colorful BIRDS!!!

Tortoise, they are so big and slow moving but fun to watch!

Bats (and my camera flash)

TIGER TRAINING!!! It was very cool to see the trainer get the tiger to do things like show his paws or stand on his hind legs so she could check him out and make sure he is healthy. He got nice chunks of red meat as treats. Every one would ooo and ahh as when he was standing all the way up. It was AWESOME!

 Giraffes Again!!!

See its nearly impossible to get that child to look at a camera!

The gorilla is asleep under that sheet. When we first saw him we thought it looked like a
homeless person sleeping at the zoo.
I think standing by this sign will be something we have to do every time we go to the zoo!

Heres the girls with their craft they made, its a pine cone bird feeder!
We hung them and all the bird seed was gone in a couple weeks!

January Snow

With how little snow there has been this year I have really tried to get out with the girls every time it snowed. The girls love it so much it makes me wish we had more snow this year.

Abi is so happy to be in the snow

Katie catching snow flakes on her tongue

Making a snow man. Really it was me making the snow man.

The girls helped smooth out the edges of each ball.

Awe they love the snowman.

Katie either being protective of her snowman or holding it back from getting in a fight.

Once Abi noticed the face on the snow man it scared her a little bit.

Warming up after playing in the snow.

January Crafting

Here are my craft projects from January
A onsie with a rocket for my nephew Spencer's first birthday.
This is the onsie with the freezer paper stencil ironed on.

Here is the onsie after it was painted and the stencil removed. I think it  turned out cute!
Here is cute Spencer in the suit I made him for Christmas.
John wanted a diaper and wipe caddy for him when he has to change Abi. He is the one who gets to change her at church since I'm in primary.
It's made from mil spec cordura that John got a while back

How the inside looks
One of my girls friends Lilia turned 2. I made this little skirt for her.
I love how it turned out!
I made some shirts for some of my friends kids
A mustang air plane for Liam

A guitar for Asher
I made a rocket shirt for Isaac too but didn't get a picture.

Two of our little friends Liam and Isaac turned two. Liam the end of January and Isaac the beginning of March . I made them each a car caddy with their initials on the back so they don't get mixed up.

Two Baptisms- January 2012

In January we had one niece and one nephew turn 8 and both were baptized. We are so proud of Libbie and Joesph for making this important choice. They are such good examples to our girls! We had lots of fun spending time together and celebrating these two kids!
