The Girls Room

Since Katie was born she shared a room with John and I. Then came Abi and she also shared our room. Well earlier this year my kind Dad agreed to move his office upstairs and give us his old office to use as the girls room. With John working we didn't have much time to work on it, and it took what seemed forever to get the room done. It has been finished for a while but I just haven't gotten around to posting pictures. We have been working with the girls to get them used to sleeping in the new room. Abi takes her naps in there and sleeps for the first part of the night but then joins us in our room. Katie is having a harder time, she would rather nap on the couch and sleep in our room. Some days Katie does nap in her room or spend the first couple hours of the night in her room, but she's not as good as Abi.

The girls in their soon to be new room. Painting supplies on the window sill waiting to be used.
Prepped for paint.

John painting a lovely light purple.

Cute stripes! They were not easy!

Painting done and Katie's bed. She loves Curious George.
Between the girls beds is this "Dream" plaque. I got it when I was pregnant to put in Katie's room. It took more than two years but it's up.
I made curtains out of this cute fabric. The purple matched the dark stripes on the wall perfectly!
Abi's side of the room.
I made the big lady bugs as decoration for Katie's first birthday, and thought they would look cute with the lady bug plaque my friend Rachel gave Katie when she was born.
I tried to get crafty and painted this cork board for the room.
We found the cutest lady bug push pins that work great with it.
The girls baby pictures.
Abi and Katie's piggy banks.

A little music box that my sister Mary and I had in our room when we were little.

Noah's ark. My surrogate Grandma Olson made this for Katie when she was born.

I loved finally being able to use all the cute things we had gotten for Katie's room when she was born. John and I also enjoy having our own room again even if it is only for a couple hours.

Abi is 11 months old!

In one month Abi will be turnig one. She has learned to do so much lately. She is saying a few words such as dada (dad), papa (Grandpa), kk(Katie), everyonce in a while I get a mama (mom), baba (which means most everything) and she also tries to say spider when she wants to sing "Itsy Bitsy Spider" its so cute! I followed her around with the camera this morning to try and catch some of her new skills.

I like to chew on my finger (especially if there is a new tooth on the way, this will be tooth number 8)

I can climb on the couch using sisters chair.
And I'm always pleased with myself once I'm on the couch.
I can do the actions to "Itsy Bitsy Spider". This is my spider.
This is the rain coming down.
I took my first few steps on Sunday July 25th. But I still crawl most of the time.
I like to try and climb the slide in the back yard. I've gotten up pretty far but then mom always comes and makes me get down.
Bouncing! On a ball or a balloon is lots of fun!
Bonus Pictures.
Boxes are the best toys so we are keeping the boxes from the girls new carseats for a few days.

Me and the girls

On Pioneer day John had to work but we were able to go to Liberty park and see my oldest brother Jay finish his first Marathon. He did awesome and came in at 3 hours and 52 minutes.

We did fire works with John's and my parents for John's birthday.

Katie thinks every firework is going to be loud

Watching Katie throw pop-its.

On the 30th we were leaving the neighborhood to run errands and were hit by the blue car that ran a red light. Everyone is OK although it did scare the girls for a bit, also Katie is constantly asking where the car is. We have yet to deal with the insurance because it's a weekend, but we will need a new front end and new car seats, luckily the other drivers insurance should take care of all costs.
